By conducting a thorough SEO audit of your sites help you recognize all the problems that your site might have. They include bad internal links, site structure, images with no alt tags, page titles that are too long and so many other factors that are affecting your website from getting more traffic from search engines. Fixing on-page links
When I used Semrush site audit, I found that 72 pages have too many on-page links. I lowered down the number of on-page links by removing the unwanted links from my blog sidebar, footer, posts and from comments section. So how can you find out if you are using too many internal links on a page? Semrush is the right tool that will solve this issue by showing you all the pages (including their URL’s) with too many internal links.
Watch out for your page titles and snippets
“How long the title tags should be?” is often one of the most asked questions who are learning SEO. It’s always better to limit your title tags and snippets headline tags below 70 characters. Anything beyond that limit will be truncated on Google search results. So there’s no point of writing lengthy title tags that go beyond 70 characters. Always practice the habit of writing short and descriptive title tags that will show up correctly on search results. When I used Site Audit from Semrush, I found 36 pages have a too long text with the title tags. Semrush tool helped me fix my lengthy title tags that are truncated in Google results. During the Semrush SEO audit, I came to know 36 pages on my website has title long title tags (Title text is above 70 characters). So there were 36 pages that have long text within the title tag. So what I did? I immediately started working on them and reduced the titles word limit below 70 characters. And guess what? I no longer have long text within the title tags and I started getting more click through rates from search engines to my blog posts.
Fixing images with no “alt” tags
We all know how images usage can drastically improve our site traffic from search results especially if they are properly optimized with keywords. Unfortunately, you will sometimes forget to add alt tags to images so they won’t actually bring any search traffic even though if they are compelling. So what’s the best way to get over this problem? With Semrush Site Audit, I found out there are 34 images that don’t have alt tag attributes. And I immediately rectified them by using proper keywords on the images that I’ve been using on those 34 pages. Simply start fixing them to bring more traffic from Google images search results and make your pages perfectly optimized for their targeted keywords. Improving the site speed
I must say that my blog is already loading well, I’ve never got a complaint from any blog reader about my site speed. But still I wanted to make sure my blog is loading really faster because I know that Google considers site speed as a main ranking factor. Reducing the images size, lowering down the number of plugins, installing lazy loading plugin – these are the 3 major things I did to increase my website speed. How? You can figure out the matching keywords that you can use on your own sites. Make sure to select the keywords wisely, don’t just copy and start using every top keyword of your competitors. It won’t add much value to your readers even though if it can send you more organic traffic. After all, we all need traffic that converts, right? So here’s where Semrush comes into play, it will help you find the best performing keywords that are driving more organic traffic to your competitors. That way you will be able to make a list of all the high performing keywords in your niche that are already proven to send you more search engine traffic. This is extremely helpful especially if you are starting out and trying hard to increase your website traffic. #2) Finding the right keywords that will send you right audience to your sites from search engines. If you are not at all interested in capturing your competitors keywords, then you might just start using Semrush to find keywords on your own. So focus on spending most of your time on finding the right keywords using Semrush. Always focus on finding long tail keywords because they are easy to compete with and often sends you more traffic if you write detailed blog posts over 1,000 words. #3) Backlink analysis is another important feature from Semrush that helps you analyze the links of your competitors sites. Whether you know it or not, backlinks are the backbones for any successful website that is getting massive traffic from search engines. If you want to boost your organic traffic, you need to find secret ways of getting backlinks to your sites. Unfortunately most beginners who wants to increase their search engine traffic find it really hard to tap the new link building sources.
